South Street
Street guide, Havant
South Street runs south from the crossroads towards the harbour and is the fourth of Havant's historic principal streets. The Pallant, a pedestrianised area with some of the town's older surviving buildings, lies just off South Street. The street leads towards the southern residential areas and ultimately towards the harbour shore and Langstone. South Street has a quieter character than East Street or West Street, with less through traffic. The buildings along South Street include a mix of periods, with the Pallant area retaining the most historic character. The street connects the town centre to the southern residential neighbourhoods and provides a route towards the harbour footpaths.
