Staunton Country Park Opens
1989
Staunton Country Park opened to the public in 1989, providing a major recreational green space on the northern edge of the Havant area. The park occupies the grounds and farmland of the former Leigh Park estate, including Staunton House, ornamental gardens, a walled garden and extensive woodland and farmland. The park covers approximately 1,000 acres and includes walking trails, a farm, play areas and an ornamental lake. Staunton Country Park is managed by Hampshire County Council and is one of the most visited green spaces in the borough. The park provides a rural escape within a few minutes' drive of the built-up area and is particularly popular with families, walkers and dog owners.
