The Pallant

Historic Site, Havant

The Pallant is a pedestrianised area just south of the main crossroads in Havant town centre. The name derives from 'palatinate', indicating an area of special jurisdiction in the medieval period. The Pallant retains some of the older character of the town centre, with period buildings and a quieter atmosphere than the busier commercial streets. Small shops, a cafe and the entrance to The Spring Arts Centre are located here. The Pallant provides a pleasant, human-scale space in the town centre that contrasts with the more modern retail surroundings.
